Pengelolaan lingkungan mempunyai padan kata manajemen lingkungan.
Dapatkah kita membedakan antara lingkungan manajemen dan manajemen lingkungan. Apalagi kalau digabung menjadi lingkungan manajemen lingkungan.
Bila itu terjadi menulisnya apakah lingkungan-manajemen lingkungan atau lingkungan manajemen-lingkungan. Hal ini menjadi persoalan dalam tata cara menulis ilmiah dan setiap kata/kalimat mempunyai implikasi makna.
Implikasi yang diharapkan adalah pada sebuah organisasi apakah di miliki pemerintah atau swasta atau masyarakat domestik.

Dalam buku Agroekosistem: Permasalahan Lingkungan Pertanian Bagian Pertama (Heddy, 2010) pada Bab Hubungan Antara Daerah Alami Dengan Agroekosistem; dikemukakan istilah manajemen ekologi. Setelah memperhatikan isinya istilah tersebut lebih kepada lingkungan manajemennya. Selanjutnya ada penjelasan tentang manajemen pada lingkungan alami berkaitan agroekosistem.
Ada buku lain tentang Information Ecologi(Davenport, TH and L Prusak. 1997. Information Ecology. Mastering the Information and Knowledge Environment. Oxford University Press. New York.) membahas tentang lingkungan teknologi informasi.
Dari dua buku tersebut dapat diajukan istilah EKOLOGI MANAJEMEN LINGKUNGAN atau ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ECOLOGY. Apakah seperti itu??
